In short
Time flies and details are easily altered in our memories. Laura Cortese (voice, fiddle, percussive dance – US) & Bert Ruymbeek (accordion – Belgium) capture the atmosphere of meaningful moments and turn them into memorable tales of sound, bridging their musical traditions from the US & Belgium.
Sometimes with lyrics, sometimes instrumental. Like storytellers, they display an intimate dialogue in their music. They reflect on people, places and stories that have an impact on their lives. Their music covers a wide emotional range, like a conversation effortlessly flowing with associations.
During the 2020 lockdowns what was once a casual pastime turned into a serious creative expression. Thanks to Merodefestival they got the opportunity to work on the music and turn it into a concert programme.
